Table of Contents

This project began by selecting from the very poetic language of the chapter titles and section headings from James J. Gibson’s book, The Senses Considered as Perceptual Systems, 1966. The selection of these titles was intended to form a poem in the cento tradition; using lines of an existing work to create a new one. The patterns were created in response to Gibson’s writing on sensation/perception. The project was developing during the chaotic year of 2020 and became a meditation on the events of that year and what followed.

It is printed letterpress from metal type and vinyl sandblasting material. The pages were printed as single sheets that were hinged with Moriki paper to form individual two-page signatures, sewn with an exposed spine in a sewn-boards style. Twenty copies were published in 2021. Inquire about price.
